Hearing Aid Myths and Facts
Myth: The hearing aids restore hearing to normal just like a prescription eyeglasses can restore vision to “20/20″.
Fact: The headphones do not restore hearing to “normal”. Just as eyeglasses do not “cure” the problem of vision, hearing aids do not “cure” their hearing loss. Like eyeglasses, hearing aids provide benefit and improvement. They can improve your hearing and listening skills and can substantially improve their quality of life.
Myth: You can save money by buying hearing aids online or by mail.
Fact: Beware of mail order or online hearing aid sales. When working with an audiologist, who are buying professional care and services including assessment, referral for medical treatment, as long as necessary, instruction in how to use the headset, monitoring the care and support, repair services and rehabilitation services.
Myth: A headset can damage your hearing.
Fact: A properly equipped and maintained not damage your hearing aid hearing.
Myth: Your hearing loss is not strong enough for a hearing aid.
Fact: The whole world hearing loss and listening needs are different. By working with your audiologist can determine how much a hearing aid to improve their hearing.
Myth: Your hearing loss is not strong enough for two hearing aids.
Facts: We normally hear with two ears. Binaural hearing helps us to locate sounds, it helps us in shaping noise, and provides a natural sound quality. Most people with hearing loss in both ears can understand better than with a two aid.
Myth: The invisible hearing aids used in the ear hearing aids are best for purchase.
Fact: There are several styles of hearing aids and all are “state-of-the-art”. What is most important is that you buy a headset that fits your hearing loss and hearing their needs. Just because your friend uses a particular style of hearing aid does not mean you have to use that style. Your friend’s style headset can be a recipe totally inadequate for their needs.
